Our Beekeepers
Barr Buzz Honey is built on the work of a coalition of small, local beekeepers throughout Waller County, Texas area. Many of these beekeepers care for their hives not as large industrial operations, but as dedicated stewards of the bees and the land.
For generations, small beekeepers have produced incredible honey, yet many have been pushed out of the marketplace by large commercial operations and major retailers. Industrial honey companies dominate store shelves while small producers often face barriers to entry, complex regulations, and costly retail requirements just to get their honey on the shelf.
Barr Buzz Honey was created in part to help bring attention back to the work of local beekeepers and the authentic honey they produce.

Why Small Beekeepers Matter
Small-scale beekeepers play a vital role in maintaining healthy bee populations and supporting local agriculture. Their hives pollinate plants, gardens, crops, and wildflowers throughout the region.
Unlike large industrial honey operations, local beekeepers typically harvest honey in smaller batches and focus on the health of their bees rather than large-scale production.
This means the honey produced is often richer in flavor and more reflective of the local environment.
Standing Against Misleading Honey
One challenge facing local beekeepers today is the widespread mislabeling and marketing of processed honey. Many jars on store shelves advertise themselves as “raw,” “natural,” or “unfiltered” when in reality they have been heavily processed or imported and blended.
This creates confusion for customers and makes it harder for small producers who are actually selling true raw honey.
Barr Buzz Honey exists in part to provide transparency and honesty in how honey is produced and sold.
Hand Jarred, Local, and Honest
Our honey is jarred locally in Waller County, and we take pride in keeping the process simple and authentic. The jars are filled and labeled by hand, which means sometimes the labels may not be perfectly straight.
That’s because this is not factory honey.
Every jar represents the work of real people, real bees, and a real local effort to bring authentic honey to our community.
A slightly crooked label just means it was placed there by hand.
Supporting Local Beekeeping
When you purchase Barr Buzz Honey, you are supporting a network of local beekeepers who care deeply about their bees, their craft, and the integrity of the honey they produce.
Together, we are working to keep local honey local.
